Quick answer
Yes. We work all over Bucks County, from Bensalem and Levittown up through the townships around Doylestown. Most calls here follow wind: since 2020 the National Weather Service has confirmed tornadoes from Bristol to Hilltown Township, and the damage was mostly to trees. Between storms, the work is Bradford pear, leaning trees, bamboo and limbs over service wires.
Tornado tracks from Doylestown to Newtown
Bucks County has had an unusual run of confirmed tornadoes. Isaias in August 2020 sent an EF2 about 20 miles from Northeast Philadelphia to Doylestown, snapping or uprooting trees close to 100 years old and dropping them on homes and cars in Southampton. A year later, Ida's remnants produced an EF-1 with 100 mph winds that ran 4.4 miles from Doylestown into Buckingham Township, worst along Edison-Furlong Road, plus another EF-1 that crossed the river from Edgewater Park into Bristol.
The tracks kept coming. An EF-1 crossed Hilltown and Bedminster townships near Perkasie on the night of March 31, 2022. On April 1, 2023, another ran 3.9 miles from Wrightstown through Newtown Township into Newtown Borough, and Swamp Road stayed closed into the next evening.
What those storms leave is rarely a clean fall. It is a trunk snapped at mid-height, a root plate tipped up out of wet ground, or a split top hung in the next tree over. Each one holds its load differently, so we take the tension out before the weight. If a tree is already on the house, our storm damage cleanup page covers the first hour.

Jobs we get called for in Bucks County
Storm work leads the list in this county. The rest follows the seasons and the wires.
- Emergency Tree RemovalA tornado or derecho puts a trunk on the roof or across the drive. We cut the tension out first, then lift the weight off.
- Broken & Hanging Limb RemovalSplit tops and snapped limbs left hung in the canopy, the kind of damage the Isaias and Ida tracks left behind.
- Tree Trimming Near Service LinesLimbs on the drop from pole to house, which PECO leaves to the owner once it has made the line safe.
- Bradford Pear RemovalCallery pear, now a state noxious weed, with weak forks that tear apart in summer wind.
- Running Bamboo RemovalRunning bamboo near lot lines and road edges in Hilltown Township, where the 2016 ordinance requires it removed or contained.
Coastal Plain flats below Route 1, Piedmont above it
The county covers 622 square miles, 604 of them land, and the ground is not the same across it. Lower Bucks, roughly the southern third, sits on the flat, near-sea-level Atlantic Coastal Plain, where Neshaminy Creek reaches the river at Croydon in Bristol Township. Northwest of U.S. Route 1 the land rises into the Piedmont.
Wherever the property sits, we plan the drop around the ground. Soft creekside soil gets plywood under the heavy wood, and a waterlogged root plate gets watched before anyone climbs. Our pages for Bensalem and Levittown go deeper on the Lower Bucks side.
Hilltown Township adds its own wrinkle. Its 2016 running bamboo ordinance bars new plantings within 20 feet of a property line, road edge or riparian buffer, requires existing stands within 10 feet to be removed or contained, and carries penalties up to $300 a day. We dig out and contain running bamboo for owners caught on the wrong side of it.
Outages, service drops and Callery pear
Several of PECO's largest outages were tree events, among them the February 2014 ice storm at about 713,800 customers and the June 2020 derecho at about 453,700. PECO keeps its distribution lines trimmed, but the overhead line from its pole to your house is yours to keep clear. PECO will make that drop safe for the work if you book it at least two weeks ahead.
Callery pear, sold for years as Bradford pear, is the other steady job here. Pennsylvania put it on the noxious weed list in late 2021 and moved to stop-sale and destruction orders in February 2024, and birds keep carrying its seed into fields, roadsides and disturbed ground. Its tight forks split in summer storms, which brings it straight back to the storm work.
Bucks County tree questions
Yes. We work from Bensalem and Bristol up through the Doylestown and Newtown area and into townships like Hilltown. Tell us the township when you call so we can plan the drive and check any local rule.
Get everyone out of the rooms under it, call 911 if anyone is hurt or a wire is down, and report downed lines to PECO. Then call us any hour to get the weight off safely.
Hilltown Township does: stands within 10 feet of a property line, road edge or riparian buffer must be removed or contained, with penalties up to $300 a day. Other townships may differ, so check yours.
Often, yes. It splits easily in wind, Pennsylvania now treats it as a noxious weed, and its seed spreads into nearby ground. Taking it down on a calm day is a simpler job than untangling a split one.
